Hey ya'll! We have a new networker, Apryl Beverly, to introduce to some and reconnect to others. Let's get into what she does!

Apryl, we are so excited to connect with you officially! Tell us what you do.

I'm Apryl Beverly, The Million-Dollar Word Stylist™️ and founder of the first female-owned, flat-rate sales writing agency (BAAB Writing and Marketing Services) known for crafting flava-infused copy for Entrepreneurs and small business owners turn to me and my team when they want to transform their dull, boring words into spine-tingling sentences that propel folks to whip out their credit cards and smack the buy button®️.

What peaked your interest in working with words?

I always knew I wanted to pursue writing as a career, but my mother wanted me to become a lawyer after watching “Clair Huxtable” boss up weekly on the ever-popular Cosby Show. During my sophomore year as a scholarship student at The Ohio State University, I secretly enrolled in Journalism School, landed an editing role at the school newspaper and confessed to my mother (after getting a few As under my belt) that I no longer wanted to pursue law school, and instead, desired to start a career as a writer. After graduation, I worked in several marketing communication management roles for law firms and tech companies before getting married and giving birth to my son four years later. As a mother, my heart broke every time I had to ask another adult for permission to spend time with my son, so with my husband’s support, I explored entrepreneurship.

In 2011, I launched BAAB Writing and Marketing Services and began to “sling sentences” for corporations and small businesses around the world. During my first 12 months in business, I landed several high-dollar contracts with multibillion-dollar businesses and ended the year as a six-figure business owner. After writing for one-on-one for clients in the United Kingdom, United States, Bahamas, Asia, Caribbean, Dubai and other locations around the world, I decided to launch Word Stylistz, the world’s first woman-owned flat-rate copywriting service fully staffed by female-only copywriters and editors. This service allows my team and I to offer quality, personality-infused content marketing services to budget-strapped businesses catering to diverse audiences.

Who is someone you would like the opportunity to style words for and introduce your brand to?

I've been blessed with the opportunity to collaborate with some incredible women already, but I'd love to add some men to the list so I'd say: Eric Thomas (etthehiphoppreacher), David Shands (@sleepis4suckers), Marcus Rosier (marcusyrosier), Inky Johnson (inkyjohnsonmotivate) and Mahdi Woodard (mahdiwoodard). These guys are genuine in supporting the Black community and I'd love to lend my expertise in helping them carry out their missions.

Do you have any advice to give other entrepreneurs that want to start their own business but struggle with networking?

It can be scary trying to collaborate with the most well-known influencers and experts in your industry, so to shake off the nerves, I suggest networking "sideways" to start off. There's so much value on collaborating with peers and doing so will give you the confidence to reach out to heavy hitters
