This week we have Brieanah Samuels, chef and owner of Happy Plate Cuisine 

And you already KNOW we asked her, “what do you do?”

Hello Brieanah, thank you for taking the time and speaking with me today! The networkers and I are excited to learn more about your business! Go ahead and tell us what exactly you do!

I create great and tasteful dishes. I can make something as simple as meatballs and chicken wings to zucchini scampi. I have created dishes that have been used in restaurants.

How did you come up with your name “Happy Plate Cuisine?”

I came up with the name “Happy Plate Cuisine” through noticing people’s reactions to them receiving food. For instance, when people celebrate a birthday, they get happy when the food arrives to the table. Also, when people are upset or haven’t had a great day they usually resort to food, which then turns their frown upside down.
What I mean by all of this is that I’d like to be “Serving Happiness One Plate at a Time”.

What about your journey helped you discover your culinary abilities?

My culinary abilities came from growing up in the kitchen and watching my father cook for us. I’ve always wanted to do what he did but better. Once I finished high school in Miami, I moved to central Florida in search of more. I couldn’t find it there, so I moved to Albany, GA and continued my search. I completed the Culinary Arts program at ATC in December 2018. When I moved to Atlanta, GA I was in search of something greater still. I didn’t want to settle for less and work for another endless 9-5 job that I didn’t love or wasn’t passionate about. I found my current job through Facebook and have been there for a year now. I love what I do and my job challenges me everyday. I am a chef de parte.

I’m glad you were able to finally find a job that you love and fulfills you! Do you have any advice for someone else that might be going through something similar?

Don’t give up on whatever you do. Keep pushing. Keep striving. It’ll come exactly when it needs to.
